Poplar Bluff

Our heated clubhouse is now located at an area called Poplar Bluff (approx 20 km east of Lloydminster). Gliding down the rolling hills at Poplar Bluff is a great way to spend an afternoon in the great outdoors.

Lloydminster Golf & Curling Centre

Located at 4706 – 54 Street in LLoydminster. Trails start from the parking lot on the south side of the building. A trail of approximately 5.0 km goes around the perimeter of the golf course.

Rentals
Rentals are available on a first come first serve basis. Cost is $60 for the season and you must be a member to rent. Contact the club at Lloydcrosscountryskiclub@gmail.com to get on the list or for more information on club activities. You will be contacted end of October, early November for dates and location for getting your equipment.

The club has two pairs of snowshoes that are available for use on our snowshoe trails.
Jackrabbit Program
We are running it again this season from January to March 2023 on Saturday afternoons from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Bud Miller Park. 8 to 10 sessions, depending on the weather.
We have two groups, the Junior group is ages 5-8 while the intermediate group is 8-12. We are putting a maximum of 10 children/group. There is no charge for this program, but children must be a member of the club.
Parent Involvement is critical to the success of our Jack Rabbit Program.
Registration for Jack Rabbit is done through your membership purchase in Zone 4

2023 Poplar Bluff Classic Loppet
There will be 3 options for ski routes:
1. 3 km Moose trail
2. 8 km Eagle/Lakeside combo route
3. 16 km – skiing the 8 km route twice.
Routes will be marked and labeled.
In person registration begins at 10:00 am. You are welcome to complete the paperwork (see attached registration form) and do an etransfer in advance. You can also bring a cheque or cash to the clubhouse. .
For the first time we are offering a competitive option where skiers will race and be timed. There will be a mass start at 11:00 am for those skiing the 16 km route, followed by a mass start at 11:05 am for those skiing the 8 km route, and lastly a mass start at 11:08 for those skiing the 3 km route. ALL SKIERS WILL BE WEARING A COLOUR CODED BIB and times will be recorded once they cross the finish line.
If you are not interested in racing, there is a great option for you. Once you have registered you are welcome to hit the trails on your own or with family and friends anytime between 10:00 and 10:45 am. We have 2 requests. Please give the right of way on the trails to anyone wearing a bib, and be off the trails by 2:30.
After your ski everyone is welcome to join us around the fire for chili and a bun and a variety of treats and drinks.

Poker Rally
This is a fun event for all levels of skiers. On this 5 km trail, a card is picked up prior t0 leaving the clubhouse, At various points along the trail, 3 more cards are picked up. Upon returning to the club house, your fifth card is obtained to complete your poker hand. Skiers with the best poker hands win a variety of prizes, donated by local businesses. A hot meal and fellowship is also included.

Moonlight Skis
Held periodically through the ski season depending on weather and snow conditions. Depending on the location we may have a weiner roast at the end. Skiing under a beautiful moonlight sky is an event you won’t soon forget.
